Occupations are the activities in our lives that bring meaning and purpose. Occupations include daily activities like caring for yourself (brushing your teeth and eating nourishing food), working (job or school, caregiving, home maintenance), and regulating yourself (leisure, hobbies, meditation). These activities and how we engage in them have a tremendous impact on our mind, body, and spirit. Life, trauma, heartbreak, illness, or dysregulation can easily interrupt these occupations and create a sense of suffering or unease.
As an Occupational Therapist, I help you find and learn self-care occupations and sensory-based strategies that actually work for you. This is Self-Care Therapy, focused on how you care for yourself, calm your anxieties, regulate your emotions, achieve your goals, know yourself, and most importantly: find joy in your occupations.
